These are my favorite Garnets - checkerboard faceted squares drilled from corner to corner.
Not too big, and not too small, but just right. I paired them with deep rose freshwater pearls with silver daisy spacers separating the stones and pearls.

Sterling Silver French hook ear wires are shown.
Total earring length from the top of the wires is 1.5 inches as shown in the last photo.
Garnet is the birthstone for January birthdays, and Pearl is the birthstone for June birthdays!
